My Video diaries is an on going project by Amirali Ghasemi since 2001, the 1st edition of this work was shown in Iranian Artist forum in 2002 which was 17 min loop of 47 short documentary clips which were shot by the artist in various places frequenting from streets, cafés, galleries, artists' studios & also private places, in the current edition which is 6 min extract of the selected clips plus some add-ons, in a screen spitted into four frames, giving a more interesting snapshot of his life.
This video has been shown numerous occasions like Seminars & screening in Oxford, Istanbul to exhibitions in Tehran, Stockholm & Ontario. Currently there are 5 other editions/volumes exists & he works & updates the video every 6-8 months, Ghasemi, recently has made an anti-narrative interactive Program based on this work called Tehran Random diaries which shuffles the clips besides letting the viewer to explore the program & is able to skip/pause/Activate/ deactivate the sound of each clip.
Amirali Ghasemi Media Artist / curator
was born in Tehran on 20th of August, 1980.
he graduated in 2004 with a BA in graphic design from Central Tehran Azad University, with research and emphasis on digital art history.
In the summer of 1998,Ghasemi established Parkingallery; an independent arts space in Tehran, and in 2002, Parkingallery.com, a virtual gallery, which has become an online platform for many young Iranian artists. He has shown his photography/videos/design works in Sweden, Netherlands, France, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Canada, USA, Australia, Turkey,Indonesia, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. In addition, he has directed many audiovisual projects with Iranian rock bands.
As a curator, he has directed many exhibition projects for Parkingallery project space and few exhibitions as guest curator.
Among them: Deep Depression (2004) Transition (2005), Deeper Depression (2006), Lost in no space (2006) and Limited access (2007).
He is currently working as a Graphic designer for Parkingallery & as a freelance photographer for various magazines, and is busy with his video installations and
interactive projects like Tehran remixed, and writing about the Tehran arts scene and Iranian contemporary art in his web-log.
In the spring of 2007 he Co-Founded the Tehran base initiative ARSEH to facilitate cultural exchanges between Tehran and beyond.
Official Member of IGDS (Iranian Graphic designers society) since 2003.
