Intothepill presents: Greek Contemporary Video|Uqbar.Berlin
For this show uqbar invited the artists’ platform intothepill who is presenting a selection of greek contemporary video art with contributions by Marina Gioti, Yiannis Isidorou, Lina Theodorou, Tassos Langis, George Drivas, Yiannis Grigoriadis, Stefanos Tsivopoulos, Vassiliea Stylianidou, Yorgos Sapoutzis, Ioanna Myrka, Katerina Kana, Nina Kotamanidou, Panagiota Tzamourani, Mary Zygoury, Sifis Lykakis,Stelios Karamanolis and Nikolaos Tzaferidis (Vinsky). Intothepill was founded in 2006 with the aim to develop a common ground of exchange and collaboration, and to create networks and to foster research and experimentation among artists involved with new media. The core of the research team of intothepill is made up of Yiannis Isidorou, Lina Theodorou, Yiannis Grigoriadis, Katerina Iliopoulou. Intothepill periodically publishes e-issues (intothepill.net), presenting works by Greek and international artists. It has participated in festivals, and exhibitions in galleries, museums and independent spaces as the following. In 2009, on the occasion of Synch Festival for innovative music, moving image and new media in Athens intothepill compiled an anthology that presents 27 artists from Greece, who are committed to the exploration and application of the new codes of the digital era. This publication serves as a manual, making available to its user the information necessary to navigate the world of contemporary Greek production of digital art video. The volume includes a detailed videography for each artist, their main participations in festivals and exhibitions, their biographical data and photographic material from their work. At uqbar intothepill presents a screening with a selection of works by 16 of these artists. The screening has a duration of approximately 1,5 h in total, but can be navigated indivually. On Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 8 p.m. artists Yiannis Isidorou, Lina Theodorou together with Berlin based artists Vasiliea Stylianidou presented the platform intothepill and the e-issues they published. The presentation took place at uqbar and was held in English.
